Biography:

Maria Del Refugio Dominguez Linares, a cherished resident of Houston, TX, born in Miacatlán, Morelos, Mexico, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Maria’s life was marked by resilience and devotion. Orphaned at the tender age of eight, she completed only up to the third grade before stepping into the role of caregiver for her younger siblings. As the eldest, she took on the responsibility of providing for them. She married young to Nicolas Tamayo, and together they had four children. Tragically, she became a widow when Nicolas passed away at just 33 years old.

Determined to create a better future for her children, Maria made the courageous decision to move to the United States, leaving her children behind with the hope of reuniting with them soon.

In Houston, Texas, Maria worked tirelessly in various jobs. She was a pioneer, known for being the first to sell her delicious tacos in Memorial Park. Her entrepreneurial spirit also led her to sell clothing at the Common Market in southwest Houston.

Maria is survived by her beloved children—Javier Tamayo, Gracia Tamayo, and Fernando Tamayo—her sister Maria Campos, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Abuelita, your absence will be deeply felt. I will carry you in my heart always and never forget the special request you made of me. You never asked for much, but you understood your time here was limited. Yes, Granny, I will pray for you once you’ve left this world. Your presence will remain, and more than that, you will forever be a part of who I am. Your unwavering love, tireless work, and devoted spirit will live on in those who love you.
