Biography:

Jose Rosario Chavez, age 69, passed away on January 25, 2026, surrounded by love. Jose Rosario Chavez, de 69 años, falleció el 25 de enero de 2026, rodeado de amor.

Jose was born on April 1, 1956, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and later made his home in Houston, Texas, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and devotion. He was a loving husband to his wife, Elvira Garza, and a steady, caring presence to all who knew him.

Above all else, Jose treasured his family. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his grandchildren, creating memories filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Chavez, his son, Richard Mata, and his beloved grandchildren, Sophia Hoffman, Joseph Tovar, and Dulce Mata. His quiet strength, kind heart, and deep devotion to his family will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

Jose will be cremated. Rather than flowers, the family welcomes any support that helps Jose’s spouse carry out his wish of being cremated and laid to rest with his loved ones in La Mora, Jalisco.

A service honoring the life of Jose Rosario Chavez will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, with a viewing from 4:00–10:00 p.m., followed by a priest’s blessing at 5:00 p.m.

 

José nació el 1 de abril de 1956 en Guadalajara, Jalisco, y más tarde hizo su hogar en Houston, Texas, donde construyó una vida basada en la familia, el trabajo duro y la dedicación. Fue un esposo amoroso para su esposa, Elvira Garza, y una presencia constante y cariñosa para todos los que lo conocieron.

Por encima de todo, José valoraba profundamente a su familia. Encontraba su mayor alegría al pasar tiempo con sus nietos, creando recuerdos llenos de risas, calidez y amor incondicional. Le sobreviven su hija, Brenda Chávez; su hijo, Richard Mata; y sus queridos nietos, Sophia Hoffman, Joseph Tovar y Dulce Mata. Su fuerza tranquila, corazón bondadoso y profunda dedicación a su familia serán recordados para siempre por quienes tuvieron la fortuna de conocerlo.

José será cremado. En lugar de flores, la familia agradece cualquier apoyo que ayude a su esposa a cumplir su deseo de ser cremado y descansar junto a sus seres queridos en La Mora, Jalisco.

El servicio en honor a la vida de José Rosario Chávez se llevará a cabo el viernes 6 de febrero de 2026, con velatorio de 4:00 a 10:00 p.m., seguido de la bendición del sacerdote a las 5:00 p.m.
